A French douce-amère (bittersweet) cider apple, medium-sized, round to round-conic, green with a red sun flush. Long Ashton analysis lists it as a late bittersweet at 0.16% malic acid and 0.28% tannin — very low acid with soft, moderate tannin, making it a body-and-mouthfeel component rather than a structural one. It flowers in mid cider-apple season and is self-sterile, overlapping well with Improved Foxwhelp; synonyms include Blangy, Blagny, Cimetiere du Pays and Cimitiere.
Disease: No documented resistance or susceptibility ratings in any source consulted. Treat scab, mildew and fireblight behavior as unknown for a maritime PNW planting and scout accordingly.
Discrepancies: Two independent sources agree on chemistry: Long Ashton lists Cimetiere as a late bittersweet at 0.16% malic acid / 0.28% tannin, and Pomiferous independently reports 0.16% malic acid — good corroboration. Not present in the WSU database, so no maritime-Washington harvest or bloom data exists and the late-October window is transposed from Normandy and Long Ashton. Main unresolved issue is identity: the orchard's label Cimetere could correspond to Cimetière de Blangy or to another Cimetière selection, and Long Ashton lists only the bare name Cimetiere without qualifier. Recorded the Blangy attribution because it is the only Cimetière with a documented cider record, but this should be confirmed against the nursery invoice.
